This press release is to follow up on the false narrative that has been circulating in the social medias for the past two days assuming that Mr. Rudy Nau was prohibited from entering without a motive at Plattdeutsch catering on Sunday where Tabou Combo was performing.
Mr. Rudy Nau has not responded to calls and texts messages from the management of the band since his father’s illness in the month of May. As a reminder to everyone Tabou Combo is a business partnership of five members now four after the passing of Mr. Herman Nau.
Tabou Combo is obligated to offer professional entertainment in the form of music without hindrance when hired by a promoter. That’s what we have been doing for the past 52 years .
After many attempts to reach Mr. Rudy remained unsuccessful we made the decision to hire another drummer who is very familiar with the group to fill the void .
Our very first performance with that drummer was August 21 in Harlem and everyone was extremely happy with that performance.
He was also hired for the October 10 performance and practiced a whole month with the band since we had decided to modify the repertoire.
On October 8 Mr. Yvon ANDRE who’s a partner received a text from Mr. Nau expressing his desire to come to work on Sunday . Mr. Andre explained to him that it was not possible since we already have another drummer for the gig.
Mr. ANDRE and I had a very lengthy conversation with Rudy’s mother to explain to her that it would be ethically improper for him to show up when another drummer is playing. We also conveyed the idea of having a meeting with him to resolve the issue.
On Sunday morning Mr. Nau texted a member of the band saying that he’s coming to play “no matter what.”
Not knowing what his intentions were and for the respect to the public and the promoter, his name was not on the musician list and we advised security that the only musicians allowed were the ones on the list. He was not verbally nor physically accosted by anyone.
Tabou Combo has existed for 52 years because of a high level of discipline, esteem among the members, consideration for the promoters, and respect for the fans.
Any band member who does not abide to the rules of professionalism must face disciplinary actions.
