The internal dynamics of Top Vice have recently been thrown into the spotlight, following a heated argument between bandleader Robert Charlot and longtime vocalist Freddy. The disagreement arose after Freddy learned that a new singer had been added to the group’s upcoming CD without his knowledge, a revelation that has left many wondering about the future of the band.
Is Top Vice in Trouble?
Despite the public disagreement, Robert Charlot insists that Top Vice remains stable and in control. “The band is NOT in trouble. Everything is under control,” Charlot stated, emphasizing that the group is moving forward with its new CD release. He acknowledged that tensions ran high after the argument, but expressed confidence that things would soon settle down.
Freddy, however, is reportedly still considering his next move. Charlot revealed that the vocalist is expected to make a decision soon about whether he will continue with Top Vice or leave the group altogether. “Freddy will be in the studio today to inform me of his decision on if he wants to continue with the band, or if he wants to quit,” Charlot explained.
Freddy Learns About New Singer on the Radio
One of the key points of contention is the way Freddy found out about the addition of a new singer to the project. According to Freddy, he learned through the radio that another vocalist had been added to sing three songs on the upcoming CD. Charlot, however, defended the decision and the process, claiming there was no secrecy involved.
“It was NO SECRET. We’ve been in the studio for 6/7 months,” Charlot said. “Freddy is never here to see what’s going on. Robert Martino and I are working all day, sometimes leaving the studio at 6 in the morning while Freddy is out taking care of other business. THAT’S NOT FAIR.”
Charlot pointed to the difference in commitment between the members, stating that while he and Martino are full-time musicians, Freddy has other ventures. “I make my living as a musician. If he’s a real estate agent, that’s cool, but I am a full-time musician.”
What If Freddy Quits?
If Freddy decides to leave the band, Charlot is clear that Top Vice will continue. “If he decides to quit, Top Vice will continue. If one owner quits, and two owners (Charlot and Robert) decide to continue, la majorité l’emporte,” he asserted.
Charlot also expressed frustration with Freddy’s level of involvement, suggesting that he only shows interest when it comes to sharing the band’s profits. “You can’t be a partner ONLY when it comes to sharing money, you have to help in the work as well to make the money.”
The Future of the New Singer
As for the new addition to Top Vice, Charlot confirmed that the new singer will officially become a member of the band. “The new singer WILL BE a member of Top Vice,” Charlot declared. “Li fèt, li fèt net.”
With tensions still high and Freddy’s decision looming, the future of Top Vice remains uncertain. However, Charlot appears committed to moving forward, regardless of what happens next.
