This ambitious individual is Pascal F. Polynice, known to the community as DJ Paz. He began his journey by getting on the airwaves and transforming the traditional radio format that had long catered to the older generation. With determination and a clear vision, DJ Paz climbed the ranks to become the director of a burgeoning radio station, now the most popular Haitian radio station in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Orlando.
DJ Paz’s efforts have not gone unnoticed. He has significantly impacted the young Haitian generation, helping them to embrace their heritage proudly. His work has not only raised the self-esteem of young Haitian Americans but has also reshaped the perception of Haitian culture among other communities. In the new millennium, being Haitian in America is now seen as cool, thanks in large part to DJ Paz’s courageous promotion of Haitian music and culture.
DJ Paz isn’t alone in this cultural renaissance. Figures like DJ Lucky, a dedicated hip-hop enthusiast, have also embraced Haitian music. DJ Lucky has skillfully infused hip-hop elements into the music of the popular Haitian band Nu-Look, which DJ Paz manages. Under DJ Paz’s guidance, Nu-Look has already booked performances in New York, Boston, Miami, and the Bahamas, marking a promising beginning for the group.
