The musical group DAT7 will be in the spotlight on Haitian soil for their very first live “baptism of fire” performance, set to honor two contracts on March 12 and 13, 2016. It’s worth noting that DAT7 officially introduced itself in Haiti a year earlier, on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at the Royal Oasis PV hotel, where the group revealed two “Test Pressing” tracks to public and media appreciation: Depozit and Se Konsa.

The DAT7 formation is expected in Haiti on March 12, where the group will perform at the Royal Oasis hotel in tandem with the group Kreyol La, including singer Orlane. The next day, March 13, they will again take the stage at Carrefour alongside Ti Joe Zenny’s band, Kreyol La.

This tour will continue to gain momentum as DAT7 travels to the neighboring Dominican Republic on March 18 and 19, 2016, with an evening planned in collaboration with Karizma, Alan Cavé, and others.

DAT7 features four emblematic figures and founding members: Olivier (Oli) Duret, the singer; Eddy (Ti Eddy) Viaux, a percussionist; Ricot (Ti Tambou) Amazan, also a percussionist; all former members of Vice2K, and Vladimir (Ti Vlad) Alexis, a drummer and former musician of Kreyol La.

Following “Se Konsa,” one of the flagship songs from DAT7’s first album, Experience, and “I Want to Fly,” the group will soon release two more compositions in video form for the capital’s small screens, according to their manager, Gerald (Kaliko) Firmin.

The album Verdict by DAT7 features 11 tracks, including Expérience, Why, Tribunal Lanmou, Depozit, Se Konsa, Saw Tap Fè, Danre Ra, No Need to Be Fancy, Both Ways, I Want to Fly Away, and Jwe Ròl Ou.

While the emergence of new musical groups with a direct compass tendency in the Haitian Music Industry (HMI) is difficult, it remains essential. Despite the challenges, Haiti continues to be a key, important place and the central stronghold of compas. Today, it stands as the most profitable market for Nemours Jean-Baptiste’s rhythm, aside from the West Indian, overseas, and Caribbean markets, sending beautiful and positive signals internationally to the diaspora.

Until now, the “verdict” has yet to be pronounced for DAT7, and the group is still finding its footing in the music scene following the official release of their album in September 2015.

However, the hope is that this tour will be fruitful for Kaliko Productions’ talents. The OPAMUSIC team will be on site to bring you the best moments in audio and images from DAT7’s various performances in Port-au-Prince.
