NY Promoters’ Coalition Faces New Challenges Amidst Industry Rivalries

New York, NY – March 25, 2009 — Back in November 2007, New York City’s Haitian music promoters convened a pivotal meeting aimed at quelling rising tensions within the industry. This gathering was organized in response to escalating public altercations, including incidents where a musician was forcibly removed from the stage and a promoter physically attacked a fan. These events raised concerns among musicians, the public, and media, prompting a significant move towards damage control.

In an effort to prevent further conflicts and safeguard future investments, the promoters formed a coalition known as the New York Haitian Promoters Coalition (NYHPC). This coalition sought to establish a platform for advocacy, enhance public awareness, improve production standards, and promote economic stability within the Haitian events industry. The coalition is comprised of representatives from four key entities: Nadege Fleurimond Presents, Jaz Enterprise, Destiny Enterprise, and Reksha Productions.

In addition to these founding members, the NYHPC includes a diverse group of organizations such as Silk Entertainment, Bertho Zenith Productions, Brother Production, Haitian All Starz, HaitianBeatz Promotions, HighClass Pioneers, Hollywood Production, Saurel Celestin Events, Showbiz Entertainment, and Shamir Muzik.

Fast forward two years, and the coalition now finds itself amid a renewed wave of rivalry. The latest controversy began when Promoter A announced his traditional Easter Weekend event, a time historically reserved for his productions. Shortly after, Promoter B unveiled a competing event scheduled for the same day and borough, boasting a strong lineup that some industry insiders have noted.

Sources indicate that the root of this conflict may be linked to a recent band separation. Following the departure of a band member who subsequently formed a new group, each promoter seemingly took sides, exacerbating the tension between them.

As the NYHPC strives to navigate these ongoing challenges, the coalition’s initial goals of fostering collaboration and improving the Haitian events industry remain at the forefront of their mission. The current disputes highlight the ongoing struggle for dominance and influence in a vibrant and competitive sector.

The NYHPC’s continued efforts will be closely watched as they work to maintain their vision of unity and progress in the face of internal and external pressures.
