Based in Miami, Florida, dISIP was founded by the renowned Gazzman Couleur and Gabriel Laporte, whose reunion has sparked excitement among fans and industry insiders alike.
Band Formation and First Release
The inception of dISIP is the result of a dynamic collaboration between two veterans of the konpa genre. Gazzman Couleur and Gabriel Laporte, former bandmates with a shared history of success, have come together to create a band that blends their vast experience with a new musical vision. Their first single, “Pa Kondane’m,” made its debut in early March 2010 and has been met with widespread approval from their target audience.
Meet the Musicians
- Gazzman Couleur: Known for his multifaceted career as an actor, businessman, and prominent konpa singer, Gazzman Couleur, born Gasman Pierre, has long been a beloved figure in Haitian music. His transition from a promising soccer player to a leading vocalist in bands such as Yeabah, Zenglen Plus, D-Zine, and Nu Look has solidified his place in the konpa scene. Gazzman’s latest endeavor, dISIP, represents his commitment to his craft and his determination to leave a lasting legacy. “This band right here, dISIP, is my calling,” Gazzman states. “It is with dISIP that I will make the impossible possible and seal my legacy.”
- Gabriel Laporte: A versatile artist from Cap-Haitien, Gabriel Laporte excels as a guitarist, pianist, bassist, and more. His extensive musical background includes stints with iconic bands like Nu Star, Zinpie, Kazak Experience, Tropicana, and more recently, dISIP. “With dISIP, the band is mine. Fans will get to see many sides of me that they have never seen before,” Laporte says.
- Patrick Pluviose: A humble yet highly talented musician, Patrick Pluviose began his professional career with Kazak Experience and later joined Nu Look, where he contributed significantly to major hits. After a brief hiatus from music, Patrick returns with dISIP, eager to reconnect with fans. “When dISIP came calling, I saw it as the perfect 2nd chance to make it up to my fans who missed the popular guitar combo of Laporte and myself in a konpa band,” he shares.
- Lesly “T-Doo” Charles: Starting his career as a drummer in Haiti, Lesly “T-Doo” Charles gained recognition with bands like Zenglen, Neks, Gabel, Hangout, and Bel Jazz. Known for his percussive skills, T-Doo remains dedicated to konpa. “I was destined to be a musician and I will always be one in konpa,” he expresses.
- Ricot “T-Tanbou” Amazan: A behind-the-scenes talent, Ricot “T-Tanbou” Amazan has made his mark as a producer and lyricist. His work with bands like Neks, 509, and Harmonik showcases his percussion expertise and lyrical prowess. “In music, I get a chance to express myself, my feelings, and the many thoughts and feelings of others,” he says.
- Jean Baptiste Louis: Growing up in a musical family, Jean Baptiste developed a passion for the drums early on. His career began in gospel music before transitioning to konpa with Stanley Toussaint and Bel Jazz. “Music is in my blood and I love konpa,” Jean Baptiste confesses.
- Marc “Sexy Beef” Celestin Jr.: A versatile musician skilled in R&B production, drumming, and bass playing, Marc “Sexy Beef” Celestin Jr. joined dISIP after working with Stanley Toussaint. “I was offered a great deal and there was no way I was gonna let this opportunity with Gazzman and Laporte in dISIP go by,” he states.
- Michel “Dobodo” Yves Clement: With a career spanning bands like Lakol and Jacque Sauver Jean (Jackito), Michel Yves Clement, aka Dobodo, is a passionate keyboardist and guitarist. “Playing the keyboard is my greatest passion,” he shares. “I am going to share that passion with dISIP and give it all that I got.”
