Morne, the host of a Konpa show on Radio Nationale in Haiti, recently interviewed Roro from Djakout, who disclosed that Garry Pierre-Pierre visited Haiti to discuss Djakout’s potential performance at Kreyolfest. Roro stated that Djakout would only agree to perform if the Haitian Times would also secure their appearance for the Labor Day event. Previously, it was reported that the Haitian Times had arranged for Carimi to perform this year.

Following Roro’s interview, Morne spoke with Garry, the editor of the Haitian Times, who clarified that the decision to exclude Djakout from the lineup was not his. He explained that Djakout’s management had informed him Pouchon needed the day off for Kreyolfest to attend a wedding as the best man. Garry also mentioned during the interview that Djakout is welcome to participate in the Labor Day celebrations, as the Haitian Times is not organizing the New York Labor Day carnival.

This situation raises the question of whether both parties recognize their mutual need for each other. Having Djakout and Tvice in the same festival lineup certainly adds extra excitement.

Is Djakout leveraging their final bargaining chip in hopes of securing a sponsor for the Labor Day Carnival on Eastern Parkway? This strategy might be a way to avoid embarrassment compared to Tvice, especially if they fail to find a sponsor.
