This year’s 6th Annual Music en Folie, presented by Rhum Barbancourt, Unibank, and Le Nouvelliste, unfolded over the weekend of November 12-13 at Cercle Bellevue, marking another significant milestone in the Haitian music festival scene. Despite a slightly lower turnout compared to last year, the event attracted thousands of music lovers and showcased a vibrant tapestry of musical and artistic talent.

Saturday Highlights: The festival kicked off on Saturday morning with an array of performances that captivated the early attendees. The day was packed with a diverse lineup including B12, B.I.C. Trinity, Mamina, and Les amis de la priere. Adding to the cultural flair were fashion shows by Jean Y. Marchand and Habimode, which provided a visual feast for the fashion-forward crowd. The dance troupe Tempo Plus added a dynamic element to the day with their energetic routines.

However, it was Mika’s group Krezi Mizik that truly electrified the audience, delivering a performance that was both powerful and engaging. The group’s set was a clear highlight of the day, leaving approximately 4,500 spectators in high spirits.

Sunday Surge: Sunday saw a significant surge in attendance, with nearly 7,000 enthusiasts flocking to the venue. The day featured performances from Eline Fleury, Wawe, Crystal Secure, and once again, Tempo Plus, who returned to dazzle with their dance moves. Fashion enthusiasts enjoyed another round of shows by Habimode and Harry Lafond.

The music escalated with King Posse, Dife 90, Skandal, and Kreyol La, among others, taking the stage. Notable appearances included Mika, Alexandra, Carimi’s Michael Guirand, and Gracia Delva, who had a particularly memorable moment when adoring fans ripped his shirt off, necessitating a quick escort out for his safety.

Kreyol La stood out as the top performer of Sunday, especially with their hit “Kore m la” that had the audience roaring with approval. The energetic performance by Kreyol La was a fitting climax to a weekend filled with top-tier music and entertainment.

Star-Studded Attendance: The event wasn’t just about the music; it was also a gathering of notable personalities from the music industry. Artists like T-Joe, Fabrice Rouzier, T-Hansyto, and members of 509 added to the event’s allure. Prominent figures such as Jesifra, Black Alex, and Gerald Jean-Jacques were also in attendance, mingling with fans and enjoying the vibrant atmosphere.
