Digicel, a key player in telecommunications, has officially announced new partnerships with two leading Haitian music groups, Harmonik and RAM. This initiative underscores Digicel’s commitment to supporting both the burgeoning Compas scene and the esteemed roots music tradition in Haiti.
On the other hand, RAM, established in the early 1990s, has been a revolutionary force in Haitian roots music. The group is famed for its unique blend of traditional Vodou rhythms with rock and roots elements, creating a distinctively rich musical experience. RAM is a staple at the Hotel Oloffson in Port-au-Prince, where their vibrant Thursday night performances have become legendary. Additionally, the group has been a consistent highlight of carnival parades for over a decade, with several albums to their credit and a loyal global fanbase.
These partnerships add to Digicel’s growing roster of supported artists and groups, which includes notable names like Djakout Mizik, Krezi, Nu Look, CARIMI, and RockFam, as well as recently signed musicians Mikaben and Sébastien Pierre. Digicel’s involvement is a testament to its dedication to the cultural and artistic growth of Haiti, aiming to propel the local music scene to new heights.
