Zin vocalist Alan Cave has addressed Princess Georgy’s recent performance of the controversial song “911” with her new group Hangout, during a show held at his own club in New York. The song, which many believe to be a direct shot at Cave from the time when he and Georgy were rumored to be romantically involved, has continued to stir conversation within the Haitian music scene.
“I would not call that an entrance,” Cave commented. “It did not make that much of an impact. The people couldn’t really see her. I wouldn’t be surprised if the fans calling her name were just friends of hers. Georgy does not have that much of a true fan base.”
When asked if he had spoken with Georgy that evening, Cave was quick to dismiss the idea. “I did not speak to her because I did not see her. Even if I did, I wouldn’t want to speak to her. You don’t want her calling 911 for me if I approach her to say hello,” he added, with a sarcastic tone.
Despite the personal nature of the song and the performance taking place at his club, Cave seemed to take the situation in stride, though not without a sense of insult. “It’s insulting, but I understand it’s business,” he said. “What can I do? Let her have her little controversy.”
As the controversy surrounding “911” and the past relationship rumors between Cave and Georgy continue to bubble, it’s clear that the performance sparked mixed reactions from both the audience and the artist involved.
