LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – Chipotle has announced that they will be closing their doors for some of the day on February 8 for a national team meeting.
Due to the recent numbers of illnesses that have been linked to the restaurant’s products, all of the Chipotle locations across the U.S. will be closed for lunch on Feb. 8 and will reopen at 3 p.m. in each time zone.
“We will be thanking our restaurant teams for their hard work during a difficult time, discussing some of the changes we are implementing as part of our enhanced food safety plan, and answering questions from employees,” Communications Director Chris Arnold said.
For the last half of 2015, reports of the norovirus in Chipotle products began surfacing. People were claiming they were getting sick due to an item they consumed from the restaurant. The outbreaks began spreading to several different Chipotle locations across the U.S. Doug Beach, a manager of the food program at Ventura County’s Environmental Health Division, said Chipotle had been cooperative with investigations, which uncovered issues such as unclean equipment and employees without the necessary food handling permits.
