The Caribbean Fever Irie Jamboree Music Festival has officially announced the lineup for its International-themed opening night, part of the highly anticipated three-day celebration of Caribbean culture, cuisine, fashion, and music. Set to take place over Labor Day Weekend, from Friday, August 30, to Sunday, September 1, 2013, at the iconic Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, the festival promises an unforgettable experience.
Friday’s “International Night” will shine a spotlight on the French-speaking Caribbean Diaspora, featuring performances by some of the most influential Konpa and Zouk artists. The night will be headlined by the award-winning Wyclef Jean, whose eclectic mix of world carnival rhythms, Hip-Hop, and Caribbean vibes has earned him international acclaim.
Joining him on stage will be Kassav’, the legendary pioneers of Zouk music. Known for their electrifying performances, Kassav’ returns to New York City after a two-year hiatus, bringing with them the infectious energy and vibrant sounds that have captivated audiences for over three decades.
The night will also feature Tabou Combo, the original ambassadors of Haitian Konpa music. Celebrating their 45th anniversary, Tabou Combo continues to be a driving force in the Caribbean music scene, known for their dynamic live shows and influential sound that has shaped the genre.
Adding to the excitement, Djakout #1, one of Haiti’s most popular Konpa bands, will take the stage. Renowned for their high-energy performances, Djakout #1 is a favorite among the younger generation of Konpa enthusiasts, ensuring a night of unforgettable music and celebration.
The event will also showcase New York’s top Haitian-American DJ, Stakz Hi-Profyle, who will entertain the crowd throughout the night. Additionally, the festival’s organizers have introduced the “DJ Battle for the Barclays,” a competition that will see the grand-prize-winning DJ perform alongside the festival’s star-studded lineup.
