Yesterday morning began with an urgent call from a source close to the Trio-promoters’ camp—Foe, Richard, Glasses—advising me to arrive early at SOBs to capture the night’s anticipated drama. The event took a serious turn when Papa Jube, reacting to a concerning early evening phone call, contacted Larry Gold, the owner of SOBs, to request additional security for the evening. For the first time at an SOBs event, guests were searched at the door, and the musicians’ VIP room was strictly monitored, accessible only to those with a badge, a noticeable change from the typically relaxed access of past events.…

Yesterday morning, I received a call from someone close to the Trio-promoters’ camp (Foe, Richard, Glasses) I was told to get there early to bring my camera for action. I did as I was told. Papa jube received a call around 7:30, the call did not sit well with Jube, and he called Larry Gold, the owner of SOBS and requested the permission to hire more security. Many of you who went to the party last night can notice that for the first time they were searched at the door at SOBS. The Musicians VIP room was also under tight…

A notorious Haitian armed gang leader who has been a principal target of a weeks-long United Nations-backed crackdown on violent crime in Port-au-Prince, the capital, has been captured in a southern town and transferred back to the city with UN logistical assistance. Evens, also known as Ti Kouto, who had been dislodged by the anti-gang operations in the capital’s Cité Soleil neighbourhood, one of the violence-ridden country’s most dangerous areas, in which many of his suspected underlings and weapons caches were seized, was captured by Haitian national police in the commune of Les Cayes. The UN Stabilization Mission in Haiti…

You have to admit the band has been staying away from the drama in what… a couple of weeks? But then again I just returned. With Mei Mei (pronounced MiMi) getting all the buzz from young men and nasty old men alike. If you’re wondering how old she is; let’s just say she can vote but she can’t drink. She’s definitely eye candy which is a quality Hangout has always looked for in their female vocalists when hiring. do you think she and Pipo can take Hangout to higher rankings in the Haitian music industry? The young lady has yet to…

How and why you guys formed Tabou Combo? The year was 1962, a musical revolution was taking place in Europe, precisely in England. Groups like “the Beatles and the “Rolling Stones “were taking Europe and the United States by storm. Haiti was chosen by the French music industry as a potential market for French Rock and Roll as a former Colony. In every upper class and some middle class neighborhoods a group was being formed. They started playing rock and then came back to Konpa. Tabou Combo was formed at the image of new generation of Haitian musicians called the Mini Jazz. The first Mini Jazz…

Official Statement from Mia Lopez (Sakapfet.com) Who ever thought I’d be my own PR representative? For those of you who know me, I mean really know me, you all know I would have never answered any web board messages about something that concerned me unless it was totally unfair. While in Haiti I stayed abreast of things that were spoken on all the web boards and its unfortunate that on the eve that Sakapfet.com shares the Live Feed with 11 other websites all of this transpires, making visibility of the issue that much more grandiose. But… on a recent responsive…

Maybe I should have written “Did Mia Lopez receive a verbal beating from Roberto Martino” since it’s not fair to let the whole band suffer from one person’s lack of good judgement. Anyhow, during last night’s broadcasting of the carnival, Roberto had some choice words for Mia Lopez after she declared Djakout Mizik the winner of day 2. Mia proved once and for all what some people have been saying for years couldn’t be further from the truth. GO, MIA! Sakapfet.com has been T-Vice’s fan site for many years and a lot of people in the industry felt the site…
