Soon after Pipo left Nu Look , a young artist had a big break when he performed 13 gigs as Arly’s Captain by saving a well announced Haiti tour at the end of 2012 early 2013. The amazing part of the story is that he was able to perform without ever practicing with Nu Look prior to the tour. Mouvman Kreyòl Promo (MKP) is inviting you to see one of the performances on YouTube by searching “Avè w map mache”Nu Look at Parc Historique de la Canne A Sucre 2013.” The kid that won Arly’s heart and trust by not only his vocal delivery, but also his stage presence is none other than ERNST MILDORT, a.k.a., DORVA. The artist chose and constructed this name by taking “DOR” from his last name Dorva and “VA” from his idol Gracia Delva. Dorva is today, one of the newly acquired singers of D Zine Konpa( DZK).
Prior to that short and glorious moment with Nu Look, the young singer from “Petite Rivière de l’Artibonite,” played with Joma Jazz of Mirebalais and Sinik Mizik. He also sang the 2012 carnival song of the band Take Off titled “Brother pa Boy.” Arly tried his best to have Dorva by his side in Nu Look, but unfortunately, the U.S. Embassy did not grant the favor. From that time on, Arly has been the sole singer of Nu Look, as if to say, “it won’t be anyone else if it can’t be Dorva.” On his end, Dorva went into a sabbatical period only to resurface with Djakout Mizik for a brief period in 2015.
In 2016, Dorva left Haiti to reside in Canada where he created his own group “Dorva and Friends.” The band started to play live in 2017 and had their last show on December 5th, 2019.As we all know, Canada was closed for entertainment activities for more than two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and assuredly, musicians are among the people who were most affected. In 2021, Dorva was invited by the new management of D Zine to embark on a completely new adventure. At the end of the year 2021, D Zine released two songs titled “Diaspora” and “Sam Tap Chèche ya.” Since the new release of the two videos, most people are now getting to know Dorva. In this new chapter, the U.S. will finally get to enjoy Dorva in the upcoming months when the revamped Dzine, now D Zine Konpa (DZK), starts to perform live with some new artists. Keep an eye on Dorva, but more importantly open your ears to enjoy his blessed voice!
