Vladimir Mead, better known as Master Brain in the music industry, is a popular Haitian rap Kreyol artist who is quickly rising to super stardom. Known for his socially conscious lyrics and polemical rhymes, Master Brain tackles personal issues and stresses the importance of citizens upholding their civic duties to society. Using the power of social networking to promote his music, Master Brain’s videos easily average 50,000 views and 500 shares.
The evolution of Master Brain’s unique style is deeply rooted in his musical background. Growing up in the church meant constant exposure to music. His father also has a long history of playing the bass and guitar. Master Brain would eventually join the church band playing the role of drummer. Naturally his style was heavily influenced by Konpa.
Master Brain’s musical journey would cross boundaries with him as he crossed international borders. In 2007, he left his native Lascahobas, Haiti and moved to Boston in the United States of America. Following a homework assignment to write a poem, Master Brain discovered a knack for poetry. He began to write many poems in Haitian-Creole and converted the poems into enjoyable rap. Often times his poetic flow would come off the top of his head as freestyles. His first freestyle titled “Chichiman Ki Doggy” caught the attention of many in the Rap Kreyol game. His big break came after the release of “Plis Ke 100 Bar” which went viral across the internet in 2011. Master Brain would go on to compose and release many popular tracks with his latest being hit song “Piti Fim Nan.”
Master Brain is currently working on his debut album set for release in 2016, much to the excitement of his rapidly growing loyal fan base. With a range of social topics to be covered, the album is expected to be a major hit among the masses as they listen to words that they can relate to over music that speaks all languages.
