Rutshelle Guillaume was born in Port-au-Prince on July 28th, 1988, to a family of three children. Rutshelle Guillaume is the only daughter on her Father’s side. At the age of 5, she began to sing at the church of Dieu de Boulard led by Pastor Louis Destinval. Rutshelle discovered her passion for music at the age of 19 in the group “REL”, a musical group composed mostly of young musicians of the National School of Arts (ENARTS).
During a vocal audition organized by James Germain, Emeline Michel, and Stevenson Théodore at the Fokal, her performance on stage allows her to surprise Yole Derose, who at the time was looking for young female talents for her project “Haiti Heart of Women”. Rutshelle then integrates this training in September 2011.
In 2013, her musical career took off and she became known in the Haitian musical universe with her video opus “KITE M KRIYE”.
With 5 years of experience as a professional musician, she has two albums on her account “EMOTIONS released in 2014 and REBELLE in 2017”. Many will say that Rutshelle is a great collaborator because, beyond these personal projects, she participates in the creation of works of other artists or musical groups such as Veeby (Cameroon), J. Perry, James Germain, Doc Filah, BIC, Fantom, Barikad Crew, KAI, just to name a few. (Haiti). It integrates the musical project “Vwalye”, supported by the European Union and which aims to discover emerging Haitian talents.
Rutshelle Guillaume is very present on the international scene with performances in South Africa, the Congo, Barbados, France, the United States, Canada, the Bahamas, the Dominican Republic and of course in Haiti with the International Festival of Jazz of Port-au-Prince.
Beyond music, Rutshelle is a Philosopher by training, she obtained a degree in philosophy at the Ecole Normale Supérieure (ENS) of the State University of Haiti (UEH).
Between professional life, musical rehearsals, album recording, and concerts around the world, Rutshelle is nowadays one of the most listened to and charming female voices on the airwaves.
