Created in 1963 by his maestro Lyonel Déjean, this group was first called “les Frères de Pétionville”, before being called “Les Frères Déjean”. It was not until 11 years after the group was created that the first album of the Frères Déjean was released. this album will be called “Haiti” and will be a concentrate of hits, a great success.
Other albums will follow, however, one of Frères Déjean’s flagship albums is most certainly “Bouki ac Malice”, created in 1977, with the titles “Débaké” and “Arrêté”.
The group kept a nucleus made up of members of the Déjean family, and knew, throughout its existence, a series of departures and integrations of musicians. The Dejean Brothers largely contributed to giving Haitian music its letters of nobility, and paved the way towards a very professional way of conceiving musical creation in the Caribbean, like another Haitian group like the ” Magnum Band “which will also stand out for its professionalism.
