INFORMATION

Mackenzy is a shining talent who has been lighting up his surroundings with his music over the years. He represents a mix of cultures, blending his roots with the place where he was raised. This combination gave him a unique sensitivity to music.

Although Mackenzy grew up in Haiti, he was deeply influenced by artists like Prince, Michael Jackson, and others, who awakened his natural musical instincts. He would imitate their gestures and vocal styles, which helped shape his own voice. While his music was influenced by his heritage, it was in Haiti where he first started exploring different sounds. Along with his friends, he created a small group called “DigiNice” that showcased his unique vocal style, which attracted attention for its originality.

To get better, Mackenzy spent time listening to popular bands to learn the groove of konpa music. Over time, “DigiNice” performed with well-known groups, and eventually, “K’dans” invited him to replace Jude Jean as their lead vocalist. Despite his initial hesitation and his aunt’s disapproval, Mackenzy ended up joining the group and began his professional music career.

His first album with “K’dans,” Easy Fit, featured his vocals on songs like “Malatyong,” “Lamitye Trò Piti,” “Superstar,” “Lanmou Dwe Koupab,” “Lanmou Avèg,” and “SIDA (Pub).” His voice brought something fresh to the music, helping him prove his potential. After his time with “K’dans,” Mackenzy left Haiti to continue his education.

While studying, Mackenzy continued to be inspired by artists like Usher, Bruno Mars, and Enrique Iglesias. He gained more experience and grew as an artist. After settling in Florida, he teamed up with Nicky Prud’Homme and Sanders Solon to create a new sound. Together, they mixed konpa with electro-pop, hip-hop, and R&B, which helped Mackenzy develop his style.

In 2010, he released Jere’m, the debut album by “Harmonik.” Songs like “Harmonize M,” “True Love,” “Speaker,” “Konsekan,” “Obsede,” “Jere M,” “Se Pa Politik,” “My Woman,” and “Please Love Me” showcased Mackenzy’s vocal range. His falsetto and unique style helped make “Harmonik” a breath of fresh air in the music scene. The group’s second album, Let’s Go, featured songs like “Harmonik Time,” “More Than Enough,” “Brase Lide,” “SMS,” “Pa Mode,” “All The Way,” “Let’s Go,” “I Hear You,” and “Yon Sèl Bondye,” with Mackenzy’s composition “I Believe in Love” highlighting his versatility.

With the release of Diferan, the group continued to explore new sounds, and Mackenzy pushed his vocal abilities even further. Tracks like “Otan,” “Apa W Fache,” “Ilegal,” “Naturèl,” and “Diferan” showed how Mackenzy’s voice had become a key part of the group’s identity. His strong yet delicate voice became the signature of “Harmonik’s” sound.

In their fourth album, Degaje, Mackenzy’s vocal range was on full display in songs like “Cheri Benyenm,” “Enpafè,” “Enkwayab,” and “Enpòtans.” His commitment to music and his activism made him a special figure in the music world, balancing his career with his studies in business and agronomy.

“Harmonik” became one of the most popular groups of the era, with Mackenzy, Nicky, and Sanders at the heart of the group’s success. Their music continued to resonate with fans in the West Indies and the diaspora. Mackenzy’s talent, hard work, and ability to evolve with the group helped them grow and earn widespread praise.

Their most recent album, Respè, features songs like “Ou Detenn Sou Mwen,” “Map Trepase,” “Wap Fè Kòve,” “Or Lage M Nan Cho” (with Roody Roodboy), and “Pete Fyèl Mwen” (with Anie Alerte). Mackenzy’s voice continues to captivate audiences, with his unique vocal style and strong musicality.

With a successful career already behind him, Mackenzy has an exciting future ahead. His collaboration with Nicky and Sanders will keep pushing “Harmonik” to new heights, ensuring their music will continue to thrive for years to come.
