With an innate passion for music, Alex Mathieu has built a dynamic career that seamlessly blends Caribbean, Pop, R&B, Funk, Gospel, and Latin influences. Inspired by legendary artists such as Marcus Miller, Victor Wooten, Michael Jackson, Earth, Wind & Fire, Hector Lavoe, Tabou Combo, System Band, and Fred Hammond, Alex’s sound is a vibrant fusion of timeless traditions and modern styles.
Alex’s musical journey began in 2004 with the release of his first gospel album, produced by his band Urban Harmony. This debut marked the start of a series of notable milestones. In 2006, he joined the local band Big Deal, contributing to their debut live album released in the summer of 2008. This period refined his stage presence and deepened his artistic vision.
In 2009, driven by a desire for creative independence, Alex founded his own band, Kmistry. Under his leadership, the group released its first album, It’s My Life, in 2012, highlighting Alex’s distinct voice and songwriting talent. His pursuit of musical excellence reached a new height when he auditioned for the iconic band Tabou Combo on July 28, 2017. Since then, he has become a key member of the legendary ensemble, performing on stages around the world alongside celebrated musicians.
As a testament to his evolution as an artist, Alex is currently working on his highly anticipated debut solo album. In December 2025, he expanded his discography with the release of a Christmas album, Winter Red Christmas. His catalog also includes notable singles such as St. Valentin, Respekte, and Manman (2018). In 2021, he explored social commentary through his impactful single Black Lives Matter, featuring Aliel, demonstrating his dedication to using music as a voice for change.
