Harmonik is a celebrated Haitian music band that has captivated fans around the world with its infectious rhythms, emotive lyrics, and dynamic live performances. The group was founded in December 2007 when Nickenson Prud’Homme invited Mac D and Sanders Solon to join him on a musical tour of the Bahamas. This collaboration marked the beginning of what would become one of the most beloved boy bands in the Haitian music industry.
Their official debut came on August 15, 2008, when Harmonik launched its first album, “Jere’m.” The album became an instant success, topping charts and solidifying the group’s place as a fan-favorite. The group’s impact quickly extended beyond Florida and Haiti to major U.S. cities like Boston, Atlanta, and New York, as well as international markets. Harmonik was officially recognized as one of the top boy bands in the Haitian Music Industry (HMI).
In 2009, the band released “Ka-Po-Te Live,” a double-title live CD showcasing the group’s unmatched ability to deliver powerful and engaging live performances. This project further demonstrated their showmanship and musical versatility, setting them apart from other Haitian bands.
The momentum continued with the release of their third album, “Let’s Go,” in 2011. This project featured an exciting collaboration with the queen of soca, Alison Hinds, a move that broadened their musical reach and strengthened their international appeal. Their willingness to experiment with different sounds and styles proved that Harmonik was more than just a traditional compas band — they were innovators.
The year 2012 saw the release of the video for “Mwen Bouke,” which became a sensation in Haiti, the United States, the Caribbean, and Europe. The song was a major hit and quickly rose to prominence on airwaves, streaming platforms, and dance floors. Riding the wave of success, Harmonik dropped the album “Diferan” in 2013, earning even more critical acclaim. The second single from the album, also titled “Diferan,” became a fan favorite and was even nominated at the Indies Live Awards.
In early 2015, the release of “Illegal” took the HMI by storm. This hit song became a defining moment for the band as it earned “instant classic” status in the Haitian compas genre. The catchy rhythm and relatable lyrics made “Illegal” one of the most requested songs on radio stations and one of the most played tracks at Haitian parties. Fans, affectionately known as “Harmonizers,” embraced the band’s unique sound and spirit.
However, the band saw a shift when Sanders Solon, one of its founding members, decided to embark on a solo career. Solon went on to form his own band called Mood, showcasing his personal evolution as an artist. While this marked a change for Harmonik, the band continued to thrive, producing new music and captivating audiences with their signature blend of traditional compas and modern musical influences.
With a legacy marked by unforgettable live shows, groundbreaking collaborations, and classic albums, Harmonik continues to be a major force in Haitian music. Their ability to evolve, push boundaries, and remain connected to their audience has kept them at the forefront of the HMI. To this day, Harmonik’s name is synonymous with quality music, powerful performances, and a lasting impact on the Haitian music scene.
