Wesli’s musical journey is a true success story. Child, he makes his first guitar with an oil can and fishing line, a few years later in 2019, the 6 th installment ( “rapadou Kreyol”) was awarded the prestigious Canadian award “Juno” and Quebecers “Felix For the best world music album of the year, as well as the Coup de Cœur award from the Charles Cros Academy in France.
Born Wesley Louissaint in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, he quickly became a prolific and recognized songwriter, guitarist and producer. In collaboration with a wide range of Canadian and international talents (such as Tiken Jah Fakoly, Paul Cargnello, Mes Aïeux and Radio Radio …), his music combines the roots of voodoo and rara (an iconic traditional Haitian instrument), passing through afrobeat and hip-hop.
In 2009, Wesli was crowned “Révélation Radio-Canada”, then he won the Babel Med Music Prize in 2010 in Marseille, and the SOCAN Hagood Hardy Prize in 2016.
More recently in 2020, he won the “Canadian Folk Music Award World Music Solo Recording”, as well as the “Independent Music Award in the United States for the track” Lolé Lolé “taken from the album Rapadou Kreyôl.
His tours have taken him across Canada, but also the United States, Haiti, Cuba, Colombia, Brazil, South Korea, France, Switzerland, England, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Cape Verde, Ivory Coast, Morocco.
In 2021, Wesli preparing the release of a 7 th album “Tradisyon” in partnership with the renowned American label “Cumbancha”
